Ji Xin

ChineseChinese
, b. 1988

Born in 1988 in Jiangsu Province, China, Ji Xin earned his BA and MA in Oil Painting from the China Academy of Art (CAA). In 2012, he furthered his artistic development as a visiting artist in Paris through an exchange program with CAA. He is currently a PhD candidate at the same institution. Ji Xin’s artistic practice is a gradual exploration of the intersection between Eastern and Western classical aesthetics. By blending traditional Eastern techniques with Western oil painting methods, his work examines the forms and principles of Song dynasty painting while also delving into Renaissance iconography and the nuances of light and shadow. Rather than responding to a specific historical or cultural context, his art reflects a deeper, more universal understanding of the world, seeking to explore how one can meaningfully engage with and inhabit their environment.
