Nick Gentry

London-based artist Nick Gentry explores the relationship between digital and analog culture by using obsolete technological materials as the surfaces for his paintings. His supports are constructed from discarded media such as floppy disks, VHS cassettes, 35mm film negatives, and X-ray prints, transforming once-familiar objects into records of rapid technological change.Gentry frequently integrates the physical features of these materials into his compositions. The circular metal hubs of floppy disks, for example, often become the eyes of his painted figures, creating a direct connection between the human body and the technology embedded within the work.
