Ripoff

Ripoff is an emerging contemporary artist whose work critiques the increasingly derivative nature of the art market and the rise of manufactured artistic personas. Through satire and appropriation, he responds to the endless recycling of familiar cultural imagery, including Disney characters, Banksy-inspired mashups, and reinterpretations of the Mona Lisa. Blending humor, provocation, and self-aware commentary, Ripoff questions ideas of originality, taste, and commercial value within contemporary art. As the artist puts it: “As a self-proclaimed art snob with very little formal education on the subject, I believe that if you buy this trash and think it looks cool, your opinion is wrong—and you should buy my trash instead."
