Nan Goldin’s raw, tender photographs chronicle the fleeting, often turbulent beauty of intimate, bohemian life. Goldin’s most iconic work, The Ballad of Sexual Dependency (1985), is a deeply personal slideshow of nearly 700 photographs documenting her life in New York during the 1970s and ’80s. In 2017, she extended her activism beyond the lens by founding P.A.I.N.
