About the artist

Katie Hector’s reductive process involves layering bleach and dye through an airbrush onto canvas, creating a profoundly distinct visual imagery. Her portraits, which depict friends, acquaintances, and strangers, serve as compelling ‘allegories for longing, intimacy, and grief in response to isolation and dissociation’.

Pillow Talk, a group exhibition featuring works by Hector, is on view through 24 February at la BEAST gallery. Be sure to check it out before it closes!
