Alexander Harrison creates enigmatic paintings in which dreamlike landscapes and symbolic objects merge illusion and fantasy with archetypes drawn from cultural history. The resulting images conjure a universe that feels at once lushly inviting and deliberately out of reach, suspended between narrative suggestion and abstraction.Harrison studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. He has presented solo exhibitions at Kasmin, New York; Various Small Fires, Los Angeles; Fisher Parrish Gallery, Brooklyn; and NADA, Miami. His work has also appeared in group exhibitions at the Harwood Museum of Art, Taos; Kunstmuseum Schloss Derneburg; the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami; Hesse Flatow; Richard Heller Gallery; 0-0 LA; Hotel Art Pavilion; Smoke the Moon; and additional presentations with Kasmin. Harrison’s paintings are held in both private and public collections, including the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, and the Hall Art Foundation in North Adams, Massachusetts.
