Corey Lamb

Corey K. Lamb is an American painter born in Texas and based in South Florida, where he serves as Assistant Professor of Painting at Florida Atlantic University. He received his BFA from Stephen F. Austin State University and completed an MFA in Painting at Indiana University Bloomington in 2016.Lamb’s practice transforms personal and biographical experiences into archetypal figures and symbolic narratives. His paintings explore the intersection of existential anxiety, desire, intimacy, and eroticism, often presenting familiar roles such as the mother, the lover, the fool, and the serpent. Individual identity gives way to theatrical personas, allowing private emotions and experiences to assume broader psychological and mythic significance.His compositions are constructed through simple gestures, recurring motifs, and contrasting materials. Visceral passages of oil paint are combined with flat acrylic forms and carefully arranged spray-painted marks. Ornamental floral shapes appear to move playfully around densely painted bodies, creating tension between decorative beauty and physical weight.Melancholy, humor, sensuality, and moments of intense pleasure coexist throughout Lamb’s work. By combining emotional ambiguity with bold material contrasts, he creates psychologically charged scenes that examine the complexities of human relationships and embodied experience.Lamb’s work has been exhibited internationally through his representation with Galerie Wolfsen in Aalborg, Denmark, and nationally in numerous group exhibitions across the United States.
