Erté

Erté (French, born 1892) was a Russian-born artist and designer whose elegant Art Deco style shaped fashion illustration, theatre and film design, and graphic arts across the 20th century. Working under the pseudonym formed from his initials, he became known for elongated silhouettes, ornate patterning, and a glamorous theatrical sensibility. His output ranged from magazine covers and costume designs to sculpture and decorative objects, all marked by refined line and stylised luxury. Erté’s influence persists in the visual vocabulary of establishes Art Deco chic.
