Flora Yukhnovich

BritishBritish
, b. 1990
Flora Yukhnovich’s paintings reimagine the opulence of Rococo art through a distinctly contemporary sensibility. Drawing on the compositions and pastel palettes of artists such as Jean-Honoré Fragonard and François Boucher, she creates richly impastoed surfaces that verge on abstraction while retaining a sense of theatricality and playful excess.Born in the U.K. and based in London, Yukhnovich studied portraiture at the Heatherley School of Fine Art before completing her training at the City & Guilds of London Art School. Her practice evolves from a foundation in traditional, representational painting into a more intuitive and expressive visual language.Yukhnovich has exhibited internationally, with shows in London, Los Angeles, and Venice, and her work is held in prominent collections, including the U.K.’s Government Art Collection and the David Roberts Art Collection. By engaging with Rococo aesthetics, she not only revisits a historically decorative style but also probes themes of femininity, sensuality, and the material possibilities of paint itself.
