Jakob Grosse-Ophoff is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, illustration, and kinetic sculpture. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2019, he shifted his focus toward a full-time artistic practice, where his technical background continues to inform the mechanics and conceptual framework of his work.Grosse-Ophoff is particularly known for his kinetic sculptures, in which human-like elements perform subtle, repetitive movements powered by motors or hand-operated cranks. These works explore the poetry of everyday gestures, transforming simple motions into contemplative mechanical performances.Alongside his sculptural practice, the artist creates large-scale canvases that combine oil painting, charcoal, and collage. His visual language often extends into illustration, producing distinctive motifs that are released as limited-edition prints. Through this diverse body of work, Grosse-Ophoff bridges engineering precision with expressive artistic exploration.
