, b. 1966
Jaume Llorens was born in 1966 in Porqueres, near Girona, Catalonia. His passion for photography began in his teenage years after taking a photography course while still in high school. He soon set up a small darkroom at home, where he developed his own black-and-white prints, inspired largely by the natural beauty surrounding Lake Banyoles.University studies, professional commitments, and family life eventually took precedence, but in recent years—encouraged by the accessibility of digital photography—Llorens returned to the medium and to the landscapes of his native region. In 2014, he participated in his first group exhibition. Since then, his work has been widely exhibited, with highlights including the LensCulture group exhibition at Photo London (2023), a solo exhibition at Fundació Valvi in Girona (2022), a solo presentation at Festival Mirades in Torroella de Montgrí (2021), and a group exhibition at Valid Foto Gallery in Barcelona as part of the OFNI Project (2019).His awards include third place (Singles) at the LensCulture Black & White Awards 2022, selection of his portfolio Deep Inside at the Barcelona International Photography Awards (BIPA) in 2019, and third prize at the VI National Photography Competition Canson Infinity (Spain).
