Jess Allen (b. 1966, Dorset, UK) is a British painter based in Cornwall whose contemplative work dwells on the quiet intimacies of domestic life. She studied Foundation at Camberwell College of Arts and went on to complete a BA (Honours) in Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art.
Allen’s paintings focus on interior scenes — sofas, chairs, stacks of books, boxed objects — often illuminated by shifting natural light and overlaid with shadow figures or silhouettes suggestive of absent presences. Her practice probes themes of memory, time, presence-through-absence, and the poetic possibility in everyday domestic objects.
Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows in the UK, Europe, Hong Kong and the U.S., and is held in several international collections.
