Kathy Kissik

Kathy Kissik is an American mixed-media artist whose atmospheric works explore memory, nostalgia, decay, and the passage of time. Combining her own photography with paint, plaster, epoxy, and found objects, she creates layered assemblages that blur the boundaries between painting, photography, and sculpture.Her subjects range from Gothic cathedrals and Venetian canals to aging factories, abandoned structures, waterways, and city streets. These places function as symbols of movement through both physical space and personal history. Whether depicting an ancient monument or a neglected industrial site, Kissik draws attention to the traces of lives, events, and experiences embedded within the built environment. Her works invite viewers to remember, imagine, and reflect on the transformation of places over time.Born in Rhode Island in 1968, Kissik studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Tufts University. She has received numerous awards and grants, including two grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and two from the Paul Fleck Foundation. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.Kissik’s work is held in public and corporate collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Progressive Corporation, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, as well as numerous private collections.
