Kiki Smith

AmericanAmerican
, b. 1954

Kiki Smith’s multidisciplinary practice—sculpture, printmaking, drawing and installation—examines the human body as subject and site of knowledge. From visceral early works referencing anatomy to later explorations of animals, myth and cosmology, she treats material as metaphor across wax, paper, glass, bronze and textiles.

Her imagery sits at the junction of vulnerability and resilience, where intimate, fragmentary forms take on ritual intensity. By threading craft techniques with iconographic sources, she offers a tender, sometimes unsettling account of how bodies remember and inhabit the world.
