Laurens Legiers is a Belgian painter who lives and works in Antwerp. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, graduating in 2018.Inspired by Romanticism, Legiers creates atmospheric paintings that reinterpret traditional images of nature through a distinctly contemporary visual language. His compositions feature recurring motifs such as mountains, boats, flowers, animals, rain and water, rendered with smooth surfaces, rounded forms and carefully balanced symmetry.Working from memory and emotion rather than direct observation, Legiers simplifies his subjects into dreamlike, almost surreal scenes. His subtle use of colour, light and shadow gives his paintings a calm appearance while preserving an underlying sense of mystery and tension. His work has been exhibited internationally in Antwerp, New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
