Marina Perez Simão’s evocative, multicolored landscapes dissolve the boundaries between abstraction and figuration. Through dynamic compositions awash in vibrant hues—lush greens, deep purples, golden yellows, vivid blues, and fiery reds—Simão creates dreamlike environments that feel both otherworldly and intimately familiar. Her works traverse the terrain of memory and imagination, mapping internal and external realities with lyrical intensity. Rooted in personal experience, Simão’s practice draws intellectual depth from philosophy and literature, enriching the emotional resonance of her visual language. She earned her MFA from the prestigious L’École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle in Paris and has since exhibited widely, with solo and group shows in cities including Rome, Brussels, São Paulo, New York, and Paris. Her work is held in prominent public and private collections worldwide, including the Dallas Museum of Art, the Long Museum in Shanghai, the Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain de Saint-Étienne, and the Samdani Art Foundation in Bangladesh.
