

Peter Cornelius

Peter Cornelius was a German photographer and photojournalist, born on 6 June 1913 in Kiel. After the Second World War, he resumed an interrupted career and became known for reportage, landscape and sailing photography, before specialising in colour photography in the mid-1950s as one of the first professional colour photographers in Germany. He gained wider recognition through the Photokina exhibition Magie der Farbe in 1960. Cornelius is especially remembered for his colour photographs of Paris, published in 1961 with text by Jacques Prévert.
