Silvio Porzionato is a contemporary figurative painter known for his powerful, statuary-like portraits rendered in oil on large-scale canvases. Working from photographs he takes of friends and chance encounters on the street, Porzionato transforms his subjects into monumental close-ups, emphasizing psychological depth, stillness, and sculptural presence. After graduating from art school, Porzionato spent a decade working as a designer for a prominent Italian company. Eventually, he chose to leave the corporate world behind and begin a new chapter in the quiet of the countryside, immersing himself fully in nature and artistic practice. Within just one year of dedicating himself entirely to painting, he was awarded the Mondadori Art Prize—a pivotal moment in his career. In 2010, he received the Critics’ Prize at Saluzzo Arte and created a permanent installation for the Museo d'Arte Urbana. The following year, in 2011, he was selected to participate in the 54th edition of the Venice Biennale, further solidifying his international reputation.Porzionato has since exhibited widely in both solo and group shows at galleries across Hong Kong, Miami, Chicago, London, Paris, Bogotá, New York, Seoul, and Istanbul. He currently lives and works in Turin.
