Stefan Brüggemann is a Mexican conceptual artist born in Mexico City. Working between Mexico City, London, and Ibiza, he creates paintings, sculptures, videos, drawings, and large-scale installations centred on language and text.Brüggemann combines the visual language of Conceptualism and Minimalism with a provocative, post-pop sensibility. Using materials such as neon, vinyl lettering, gold leaf, paint, and mirrors, he explores mass media, consumer culture, politics, appropriation, and the contradictions of contemporary society. His works often employ short statements, repetition, irony, and deliberately ambiguous phrases that encourage multiple interpretations. His work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including the Centre Pompidou, Museo Nacional de Arte in Mexico City, and MOSTYN, and is represented in collections including MACBA, Kunstmuseum Bern, Museo Tamayo, and the Margulies Collection.
