

Thomas Struth (b. 1954, Geldern, Germany) is a leading German photographer of the Düsseldorf School, trained at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and long associated with Bernd and Hilla Becher; he lives and works in Berlin. He is known for landmark series including Museum Photographs, early black-and-white cityscapes, family portraits, the lush New Pictures from Paradise, and the ongoing Nature & Politics body of work exploring advanced research and industrial sites such as CERN. His work has been shown widely in major surveys, notably Figure Ground at Haus der Kunst, Munich (2017), and a large exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (2019–2020); he is represented by Marian Goodman Gallery and held in museum collections including MoMA
