Tomoo Gokita (b. 1969, Tokyo) is a Tokyo-based painter recognised for psychologically charged portraits that oscillate between abstraction and figuration, from early charcoal and gouache greyscale works to later, vivid canvases. He began his career in design and illustration, gaining a cult following with the book Lingerie Wrestling (2000), and has exhibited widely in Japan and internationally.
