All Short Stories Works By James McQueen (3)
Significance & Analysis
In 'Short Stories', McQueen sets two of his own earlier titles on a single vintage cover, so that separate phrases read as one story. Most of his covers carry one line; each print here joins two, one pair about love and one about life.
Rather than spelling a story out, each print carries the mood and themes of a tale in a single image, through colour and form, and leaves the viewer to supply the plot. The approach suits titles that already imply a story of their own.
Where it sits
The release continued a run of collections in which McQueen revisited his back catalogue. 'Anthology' (2023) had lined up his popular titles as book spines, and later in 2024 'Volume' reworked his best-loved images as lenticular prints. In 2026 the second chapter of 'Anthology', 'My Life in Stories', gathered his stories into a single print.
