All The Unreleased Collection Works By Andrew Scott (10)
Significance & Analysis
These editions reached collectors privately rather than through a public drop, so far less has been published about them than with Scott's other series. Every image was first posted in 2023 by the artist, the year of his first ever show with Stowe Gallery in the UK.
The originals
All works in this series were first shown in 'Breakthrough', his June 2023 online show with Stowe Gallery. 'Shattered' was made with his most returned-to medium, broken glass, and the title of 'Swing' actually came from a follower who suggested a swing in the comments under one of his videos.
'The Window', from March 2023, was his first broken-glass piece with a non-human subject, a bird, and plays on both the literal and the metaphorical window. In 'Power', for the first time, he tried using "the same tool as the subject in the frame", 'Fore' was "an older piece that I just got around to breaking" in the run up to the show, and 'Hooked' and 'Kite' tested string as a way into the frame in a departure from the artist's usual approach of 'breaking'.
'Smash' was similarly a previously unreleased piece from the original 'Breakthrough' group, but in this instance it took the public route instead: it came out as a surprise release in March 2024 and belongs within the 'Breakthrough' series.
