All Tug Works By Andrew Scott (10)
Significance & Analysis
'Tug' is the only release in which Scott handed his subjects over to his audience. In September 2025 he invited followers to send photos of their dogs playing tug of war, promising 10 breed-specific versions of the work and a free print to each owner whose dog he used. He went through nearly 1,000 submissions before settling on the 10 winners.
The release draws on one of his longest-running frame concepts. Scott first posted 'Tug of War' in 2023, admitting that "the physics of this are a bit questionable", and kept refining it into a small prototype for 'Frame of Mind' (2024). 'Tug' turns the same pull across the frame into a portrait of each dog. "I wanted the unique personality of each dog to come through in each frame," he said.
How the editions were made
Each image was drawn on paper and then printed on canvas; the hand-applied twine forms the rope the dog is pulling. The format is the small framed size, 33 x 44.5 cm, that he used for the hand-finished editions in 'Parallel Worlds'. Sales ran from 24 October to 17 December 2025, with no edition size announced for any of the 10.
What came next
Scott called 'Tug' likely "one of the few, if not the only, dog-themed works I release". Days before the window closed he posted 'Tug of War p. II', a new string-and-thread version of the concept, which was released in May 2026 as part of 'The Frame Games'.
