All The Emotions (H20) Works By Damien Hirst (9)
Significance & Analysis
'The Emotions' moves Hirst's blossom paintings to a new tree. The 'Cherry Blossoms' gave HENI's prints their pinks and whites from 2020 onwards; these nine prints turn to the blues, violets and purples of the jacaranda. The Jacaranda paintings The source paintings show jacaranda trees in full bloom, their winding branches crowded with thickly painted flowers. Hirst sets his pointillist dabs against marks made with leaf-shaped stamps, so two kinds of texture compete across each canvas. In print that layered surface is reproduced, not present: each work is a giclée printed directly onto aluminium composite, and the panel is flat. Why 'The Emotions' The titles name feelings rather than places, people or virtues, and most of them lean towards hope: 'Love', 'Joy', 'Trust', 'Gratitude', 'Inspiration'. The largest panel is called simply 'Emotion'. Hirst says jacaranda trees stand for "wisdom, hope and renewal" and push you towards change and new beginnings. The series can be read as a set of moods drawn from that short flowering, each print naming what its colour makes you feel. Release HENI sold the prints for twelve days, from 11 to 22 June 2026, with no fixed edition: the number of orders for each image became its edition size. The editions were on show at HENI Gallery in London during the sale. Edition numbers were allocated at random, so no buyer could choose a number. Before and after In print, the jacarandas extend a line that began with the 'Cherry Blossoms': H8 - Fruitful And Forever in 2020, H9 - The Virtues in 2021 and H15 - Archangels in 2024. 'The Emotions' keeps the 120 x 96 cm panel and the demand-set editions first used for 'The Virtues', and changes the tree and its colour. The subject Hirst keeps returning to is unchanged: the brief, immersive beauty of a tree in bloom.
